As a part of the 300 hour yoga teacher training at The River Power Vinyasa, I will be co-leading an adaptive yoga weekend training module.
In this educational and experiential module, trainees will learn how to make yoga an accessible practice for different people notwithstanding their physical, cognitive, developmental or emotional abilities. Trainees will have the hands-on opportunity to learn how to best modify poses for different body-types and abilities using props. Trainees will also be provided the education to construct a class-structure appropriate to specific populations and individuals. They will learn the differentiation of pain (physical and otherwise) and what are ‘telling signs’ of individuals who may need non-traditional guidance . This module will help us find common ground with people, as well as celebrate diversity in a physical and metaphysical sense.
